Melina I.

This book is one of my favorite three books. It’s a twist off of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale in a fantasy world with kings and queens. I admire Isi (Ani’s) strength and courage. She has had it hard since day one, considering the fact that she is the Crown Princess and has an uncanny ability to speak and communicate with birds. This book is filled with plot and mutiny along with courage and determination for doing what’s right. I recommend this book for grades 4 and up.

I read this book because it was recently made into a popular movie. The movie was about three hours long, so I knew that it would be a good book. Although the book is short, it will whip you away into a world of fantasy and adventure. I particularly like this book because of the character and plot development. The dictation is fairly easy to understand, but the depth of the plot, setting and characters is really cool. Mr.Tolkien really goes into depth and detail. In some books, there is a "bad guy" and a "good guy", but this author really shows the good and bad qualities in everyone. I would recommend this book for people in grades 4-7.

This book is an all-time favorite of mine. It stresses the importance of integrity and staying true to yourself. The main character Katsa, is judged for one action, and she allows herself to become the person who others painted her to be. But, when she meets Po, she strives to be different. She doesn’t want to be feared and she doesn’t want to hurt people. She wants to help people and do what’s right. This book tells of her struggle to break free of the expectations and assumptions of the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. This book is for people between grades five and eight. If you liked this book, you might also like it’s sequel, Bitterblue, and its companion, Fire.
