Warriors Don’t Cry
Melba Pattillo Beals
Autobiography
⭐⭐⭐⭐✩
Melina I.

If you want a heart-wrenching autobiography, this is the story for you. This book takes place in Little Rock, Alabama during the 1950s when integration was the biggest news story  in in the USA. Melba’s quest for integration and equality is breathtaking and inspiring. Her courage is astounding and a bit unreal. This book is probably for someone in sixth grade or older. I love this book and still cry each time I read it. WARNING: have a box of tissues with you before you start reading!

Diary of a Young Girl
Anne Frank
Autobiography
⭐⭐⭐✩✩
Melina I.

This story is read all over the world. It is the diary of Anne Frank, a Jewish girl who goes into hiding with her family in an attic during the Holocaust. This is also a heart-wrenching book of a brave girl. She went through so much hardship, and was never able to share her troubles with
anyone except for this diary she kept. This book is a good one, and I would recommend it for children in grades 5 and up.

⭐⭐⭐⭐✩
Melina I.

This story is an eye-opening memoir of a Jewish girl who barely managed to survive the Holocaust. This story is one of the hardest ones that I’ve ever read. The words aren’t as hard to read as the story of  what this girl and millions of others were forced to endure. I would say grades 7 and up would be appropriate to read this memoir. If you are up for a challenge, read this book!
