This book is an all-time favorite of mine. It stresses the importance of integrity and staying true to yourself. The main character Katsa, is judged for one action, and she allows herself to become the person who others painted her to be. But, when she meets Po, she strives to be different. She doesn’t want to be feared and she doesn’t want to hurt people. She wants to help people and do what’s right. This book tells of her struggle to break free of the expectations and assumptions of the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. This book is for people between grades five and eight. If you liked this book, you might also like it’s sequel, Bitterblue, and its companion, Fire.
