This book is one of my favorite three books. It’s a twist off of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale in a fantasy world with kings and queens. I admire Isi (Ani’s) strength and courage. She has had it hard since day one, considering the fact that she is the Crown Princess and has an uncanny ability to speak and communicate with birds. This book is filled with plot and mutiny along with courage and determination for doing what’s right. I recommend this book for grades 4 and up.
